Atomos has just released a new firmware for the Ninja V, now add full support of Sony a7S III (B&H/Adorama/Amazon), you can download this firmware here.

From Atomos:

As a standalone camera, the Sony A7S III delivers exceptional 4K video with class-leading speed, dynamic range, 5-axis image stabilisation and autofocus precision. Partnered with the Atomos Ninja V, however it is a formidable combination opening a 4Kp30 RAW workflow to capture the full dynamic range from the camera’s state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor. For applications where the flexibility of RAW is not needed, users are able to record 10-bit ProRes 422 for the first time in a Sony mirrorless camera and take advantage of the class-leading monitoring functions and affordable media options that the Ninja V delivers.

Sony Alpha A7S III + Ninja V

The new next generation full-frame mirrorless Sony A7S III camera and the Ninja V HDR monitor-recorder enables a powerful ultra high resolution RAW video workflow. The image data can be recorded to the Ninja V in Apple ProRes RAW, fully capturing the wide dynamic range of the A7S III’s state-of-the-art Sony sensor for the maximum detail and latitude in post-production from the camera’s large photosites – optimal for HDR finishing or to give greater flexibility in SDR (Rec.709). Alternatively, you can record production-ready Apple ProRes or Avis DNx video at up to 4k59.94p at 10-bit.

Amazing detail with 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW

The Ninja V captures tremendous detail with 12-bit log files with over 68 billion color graduations! This is converted from the camera’s 16-bit linear RAW output. This process has the advantage of being visually indistinguishable from 16-bit Linear recording, while still having practical data rates.

Capture up to 4.2K resolution at up to 59.94 frames per second. These unprocessed files are extremely clean, preserving the maximum dynamic range, color accuracy and every detail, allowing for greater creativity in post-production with perfect skin tones and easily matched colors, ideal for both HDR and SDR (Rec.709) workflows.
